Profile Information

Survivor Status:
Spouse, Parent, Sibling, Child of a Survivor (includes Adult Children of Survivors), Friend of a Survivor, Lost a Relative to cancer
About Me:
The first half of my life has been a pretty cool ride. I've started two pro soccer teams, built and sold a lawn and garden products company, had a few crash and burns and more than a few successes. I served my country honorably for four years in the U.S. Air Force, played for the Air Force Soccer Team, can still remember what it was like to dunk a basketball before my Achilles tendon blew up (it was loud, like a gunshot!), had my music played on the radio and was awarded a Hollywood FAME Award for National Community Service in 2007. Most of all, I've learned that status, money, power and fame are not the things that make a person's life complete.

For the past nine years, I've run Eclipse Sports & Entertainment, LLC, a firm I created to save the world -- and golf for free. So far, we've done a pretty good job, raising more than $4.5 million for charity and counting, helping celebrities learn how to use their celebrity capital in great ways (like helping Carmelo Anthony get involved with violence prevention programs in Baltimore) and opening the eyes of entrepreneurs and corporate execs as to how they can really make a difference in their communities. Boy, there's still a LOT of work to be done in that area. Eclipse also trains people to become golf event consultants. They basically learn how to do what I did for many years quite successfully. It's kind of like cloning, but without all the gooey mess.

I write a celebrity golf column called "On the Tee with A.J. Ali." You can find it in magazines, newspapers and my blog (which I really do need to do a better job of keeping up to date). The On the Tee program is growing and changing in '09. I'm dedicating it to fighting cancer and I'll have many interviews with celebs about what they are doing to help fight cancer. My celebrity friends and I are going to be inviting people to join us at some of the finest golf clubs to play golf and raise funds. The goal: raise $100,000 in '09 for the fight against cancer!

Let's see, what else? Well, I just finished co-authoring a book titled "The True Champion's 30-Day Challenge." It's a Christ-centered sports devotional. For every copy you buy at retail, I'll give one away to someone that can't afford to purchase one. It'll change your life in more ways than one -- you'll be blessed and you'll be a blessing to someone else!

I’ve saved the best for last. My wife Jane and I run a nonprofit called Marathon of Miracles. It's a Christian cancer outreach and wellness organization offering hope for the mind, body and spirit. We are doing wellness education, inspirational programs, benevolence, prayer and more. Part of the "more" is that we hope to establish cancer wellness gardens in cities throughout the world and develop a cancer wellness center in Malibu where best practices in cancer wellness can be developed, documented and shared with the world. Aren't you tired of people around you getting sick with cancer? We are too! Here's a hint. If we can find ways to stop poisoning our bodies, minds and our planet with toxic waste (yes, it comes in many forms from sludge to poisoned waters to steroid-pumped chickens to bad air to food dyes to negative thinking to God knows what else!), we'll find that the cure for cancer is not in medieval treatments like chemo and radiation, but in the desire to eradicate it by not getting it in the first place! For us to find the cure, we first have to find ourselves. That means living lives that are less selfish (Dear smokers: Stop! You're killing people.), more meaningful and more respectful of our environment and more caring for each other. Wow, what a concept. The western sickcare industry won't talk about that though because they can't make as much money off of wellness. They make more money when we get sick.

There's a lot more to my story, just like I'm sure there's a lot to yours. Let's talk about it, you, life, golf (love it!) and the meaning in life. My second half is going to be one heck of a ride!
Inspirational Quote:
God bless, be your best and have a great day!

Fixing Sick Care

Most people agree that the American health care system is broken. President Obama gave a speech to the joint house September 9th and here are a few of the points he shared:

"We did not come here just to clean up crisis. We came here to build a future."

"Most Americans are one illness away from bankruptcy."

"There are 30 million people without insurance... Every day, 14,000 more Americans lose their coverage."

"A lady that was about to get a double mastectomy was denied coverage because sh

A Reason For Hope

Most people know the story of Job in the bible, how he went through great trial and tribulation, lost just about everything and finally made it through the other side.

In Job 6:11, Job says: “What strength do I have, that I should still hope? What prospects, that I should be patient?"

Have you ever thought or said those words? I know I have. I spoke on Saturday in Denver to a group of doctors, nurses and cancer survivors on the topic of surviving, thriving and celebrating life. When I mentione… Continue

Happy Easter & Free Food!

Happy Easter Everyone!

No matter what your faith is (or isn't), this heartfelt greeting has deep meaning. No matter what your faith is or isn't, this message is for you.

Easter is a global celebration of the resurrection of Jesus Christ. It celebrates Him rising from the dead after giving His life unselfishly for others -- for you. Even if you don't believe in Him, you can relate to the act of unselfishness. It's no coincidence that we celebrate Easter in the Spring because it's a symbol of li… Continue

Need a Hug?

Those times when you feel like you are all alone, with uncertainly filling your mind and despair filling your heart, know that God is there in that room with you. He's waiting for you to reach out, to cry out, to ask for Him to wrap his arms around you. And He will. You are not alone. There is hope. God loves you! Sometimes He works "solo," and sometimes He works through your friends -- or even strangers. Reach out to Him, and reach out to us. We'll be there for you, praying with you, walking th… Continue

Did the Coneheads have cancer?

I'm just wondering. They look like they just went through several rounds of experimental chemo and they did smoke cigarettes a pack at a time, didn't they? So, help me out here. What do you think? Were they really from another planet or were they the victims of some big pharma… Continue
